Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a light S breeze and pressure going nowhere. On Lac Wah-Hoo, work the first drop-off and weed lines first. The strongest window is the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Wah-Hoo lies in Laurentides, in Quebec. Everything around it is lake country bush. The water covers some 26 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Shoreline comes to about 2.5 km, small enough to learn in a day. Few waters listed in Laurentides are bigger. La Minerve sits 9.4 km from here and is the nearest stop. Orléans sits 90 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. On Lac Wah-Hoo the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Temperature averages peak at 18°C in July and bottom out at -14°C in January. The year runs cold to warm and back, with clear transitions. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. Averages suggest open water from about late April through to roughly late November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Lac Wah-Hoo fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Guilbault, 1.2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing on Lac Wah-Hoo should be assumed from this page alone.
