Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with a light SW breeze and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Lac Voltige should come off the first drop-off and weed lines. A tough forecast; the morning offers the only real chance. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

You will find Lac Voltige in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. The surface lies 366 metres up. With some 11 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Roughly 1.6 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. Val-d'Or lies 111 km from the water. The nearest city of size is Gatineau, 225 km away. This one is safely inside the county line.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. County-wide records name northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Lac Voltige responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -17°C. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about late November in a typical year. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. The season on Lac Voltige rarely departs from it.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Failing this one, try Lac Wanel, 0.6 km away. The position on Lac Voltige is worth confirming on the day.
