Rain colouring the margins today, with a soft W wind with a settled glass. Whatever swims in Lac Vert should be near bays that hold the day's warmth. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Vert stands in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. Elevation runs to 313 metres. At about 13 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Bank access stretches around 1.6 km in total. Barraute at 16 km is the nearest place to stop. It is 319 km to Greater Sudbury, the nearest city. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Records held for Abitibi-Témiscamingue cover northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Treat Lac Vert as a water to read rather than to cover.
In an average year July sits at 17°C and January at -17°C. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. The water is typically free of ice between early May and mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Plan any trip to Lac Vert around it.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Should this one be busy, Lac Fiedmont is 7.4 km off. Ask locally about Lac Vert if anything is unclear.
