Heavy overcast holding through the day, with light air out of the SSW with the glass holding level. On Lac Veillette, work shallow cover and weed edges first. The forecast is against you; the middle of the day is the least bad option. Short, focused sessions beat a long grind today. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Look for Lac Veillette in the Côte-Nord part of Quebec. Beyond the shoreline you have northern bush. The water covers some 18 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. There is roughly 3.0 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. The town to know is Port-Cartier, 49 km out. After that come Saint-Alexandre at 50 km and Sept-Îles at 61 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Across Côte-Nord, recorded fish include logperch. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Anyone new to Lac Veillette should walk it once before setting up.
Long-run averages give July about 15°C and January about -18°C. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Winter locks it down, and mid May brings it back. The season between ice runs from about mid May to early November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. On Lac Veillette that shapes the whole year.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Lelievre sits 1.6 km off and takes the overflow. What applies at Lac Veillette may have changed since it was mapped.
