Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a gentle ripple from the S and no real change in pressure. On Lac Vaseux, work the first drop-off and weed lines first. Set the alarm around the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Look for Lac Vaseux in Laurentides, Quebec. Height above sea level is 252 metres. This is a pocket water of some 2 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. On size it sits at the modest end of our Laurentides list. Labelle is the closest place, 7.3 km off. Rivière-Rouge follows at 12 km, then La Minerve at 12 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Across Laurentides, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. The near bank of Lac Vaseux is often the one people ignore.
Climate records put July near 18°C and January near -14°C. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near late April. Ice usually gives way near late April, and forms again about late November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. The season on Lac Vaseux follows the weather closely.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Cartier at 0.5 km is the sensible second choice. Signs at Lac Vaseux carry more weight than any list.
