Rain on and off through the day, with a light S breeze with the glass holding level. The fish at Lac Ussiskewe are likely to sit near the seam between weed and open water. Set the alarm around the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

You will find Lac Ussiskewe in Mauricie, Quebec. Country round the bank runs to boreal forest. The water measures roughly 2 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. It is a small entry by Mauricie standards. Weymontachie lies 28 km from the water. Leblanc lies 63 km off, La Tuque another 93 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Records held for Mauricie cover northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. On Lac Ussiskewe the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The seasonal spread runs -17°C to 16°C. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Lac Ussiskewe runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. For a change of water, Lac Sisip is 0.6 km distant. For Lac Ussiskewe in particular, ask before you travel.
