Overcast skies today, with a faint SSW drift and pressure going nowhere. Fish at Lac Ulster should hold close to the shallows early and the drop later. Make the night the heart of the trip. Make the first hour count and build on it. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

You will find Lac Ulster in Mauricie, Quebec. The bank is 420 metres above sea level. Weymontachie sits 45 km from the bank. Manawan is 62 km and La Tuque 68 km. Close by you also have: 0.5 km out stands Lac la Tuque, Lac Yvon within 0.6 km, 1 km out stands Lac Zenith, Lac Milot within 1.4 km and 1.4 km out stands Lac Meddybemps. No border sits close enough to matter.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Public occurrence data for Mauricie names northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Anyone new to Lac Ulster should walk it once before setting up.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 17°C, while January sits near -16°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. Look for the thaw near early May; the fishing lifts straight after. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Plan around that when you fish Lac Ulster.
The access position is unclear from public sources. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. If the gate is shut, Lac la Tuque at 0.5 km is the nearest alternative. Check the current arrangement for Lac Ulster.
