A closed sky with even light today, with a persistent wind from the WNW and the barometer holding steady. Lac Uishaukaniss should fish best around any hard bottom among the soft today. Quiet conditions all day, with the morning marginally better. Quiet tactics only; the fish will not chase today.

Look for Lac Uishaukaniss in Côte-Nord, Quebec. The bank is 486 metres above sea level. About 1.84 sq km, so local knowledge or a boat saves a lot of walking. The margin runs to about 12 km in total. It is among the larger waters listed here for Côte-Nord. Godefroy is the closest town at 18 km. After that come Fermont at 120 km and Wabush at 138 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Survey and observation records for Côte-Nord include logperch. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Treat Lac Uishaukaniss as a water to read rather than to cover.
Climate records put July near 14°C and January near -21°C. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Break-up comes around mid May, and the run that follows is short and strong. From about mid May to around early November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Lac Uishaukaniss runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. For a change of water, Petit lac Manicouagan is 12 km distant. Ask locally about Lac Uishaukaniss if anything is unclear.
