No direct sun expected today, with a soft N wind and the barometer holding steady. The water to cover at Lac Twamis is the first drop-off and weed lines. The day holds up well from night into morning. Work the productive water thoroughly. Cold air keeps the water sluggish; scale everything down.

Lac Twamis sits in Nord-du-Québec, out in Quebec. Land around it is boreal forest. The water covers around 1.30 sq km, which puts most of it out of reach from the bank. There is roughly 13 km of bank, more than one visit can cover properly. Head to Kuujjuaq, 165 km away, for anything you forgot. It is 945 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Fish documented in Nord-du-Québec include Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout and lake whitefish. The county list is broader than any single water. Work Lac Twamis in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Climate normals give 12°C for July and -25°C for January. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early June. The lid tends to go about early June and return around late October. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Lac Twamis runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Horseshoe, 6 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat access at Lac Twamis as something to verify.
