Overcast skies today, with a whisper of wind from the SW and pressure going nowhere. The fish at Lac Turcotte are likely to sit near structure within a cast of the bank. The useful hours run the day. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

The Estrie entry here is Lac Turcotte, in Quebec. The surface lies 473 metres up. It covers about 2 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. On size it sits at the modest end of our Estrie list. Some 19 km away sits Lac-Mégantic, the nearest settlement. The big place round here is Sherbrooke, 63 km distant. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Estrie records list rainbow trout, white sucker and pumpkinseed among the fish reported. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Lac Turcotte gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Between January at about -12°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Winter shuts the surface down for months. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Ice usually gives way near late April, and forms again about late November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. That is the shape of the year on Lac Turcotte.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Midas sits 2.2 km off and takes the overflow. For Lac Turcotte, the notice at the access point is the final word.
