Wet weather working through today, with a light SSW breeze and pressure sitting still. The water to cover at Lac Tropbeau is reed fringes and open pockets. Quiet conditions all day, with the night marginally better. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Set in Côte-Nord, Lac Tropbeau is a Quebec water. Taiga runs right down to the water. The water covers some 11 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. About 1.5 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Sept-Îles is the closest town at 40 km. Saguenay sits 376 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Reported across Côte-Nord: logperch. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. The near bank of Lac Tropbeau is often the one people ignore.
Long-term averages put July at about 15°C and January near -17°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from mid May. Averages place the thaw at mid May and the freeze at early November. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Expect Lac Tropbeau to follow that timing.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Failing this one, try Lac Graindeble, 1.4 km away. Ask locally about Lac Tropbeau if anything is unclear.
