A clean, cloudless night over the water, with a busy W wind on the open water with the glass holding level. Lac Thibeault should fish best around windblown banks where food collects today. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The cold puts a premium on the calmest, deepest water.

The Côte-Nord end of Quebec holds Lac Thibeault. It lies 24 metres above sea level. It runs to roughly 48 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The margin runs to about 6.2 km in total. Saint-Augustin sits 24 km from here and is the nearest stop. Baie Verte lies 227 km off, St. Anthony another 231 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. County-wide records name logperch. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. On Lac Thibeault the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Between January at about -14°C and August at about 14°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. Break-up near early May, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Lac Thibeault runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. If the gate is shut, Lac Kecarpoui at 7.2 km is the nearest alternative. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Thibeault for certain.
