Flat light and a covered sky today, with a whisper of wind from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Activity on Lac Theta should centre on the margins and the shelf beyond them. A stay-home graph, with the middle of the day as the one excuse to go. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Lac Theta belongs to Laurentides, Quebec. It stands 274 metres above sea level. With some 14 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. With about 1.8 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. Nearest town is Saint-Boniface, 41 km off. For a city, Gatineau is 157 km off. Also within reach: Lac Manade 2.1 km, Lac Leamy sits 2.5 km out, Lac Iodate 2.7 km, Lac Gangue sits 2.7 km out and Lac Asson 2.9 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth figures are not published for this one. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Laurentides records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch among the fish reported. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. On Lac Theta that means starting tight and working out.
Between January at about -16°C and July at about 18°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Hard water is a season in its own right here. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly late November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Theta.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. The nearest alternative is Lac Manade, 2.1 km out. None of that is settled for Lac Theta in what we hold.
