Rain on and off through the day, with almost no wind to speak of with the glass holding level. On Lac Therrien, work the calm side of the wind first. Make the night the heart of the trip. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

The Lanaudière end of Quebec holds Lac Therrien. The surface lies 479 metres up. About 6 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Supplies mean a trip to Rivière-Rouge, 34 km off. Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne is the closest city, 112 km away. Not far off: Lac Laclede just 2 km, Lac Colombon 2.5 km, Lac Jamet just 2.6 km, Petit lac Comox 3 km and Lac Alexandre just 3.1 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Records held for Lanaudière cover pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Take Lac Therrien a stretch at a time.
Climate normals give 17°C for July and -15°C for January. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early May. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near late November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Plan any trip to Lac Therrien around it.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. The nearest alternative is Lac Laclede, 2 km out. Where Lac Therrien is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
