Not a cloud worth mentioning today, with a kind WSW breeze on the water and pressure sitting still. Give the first drop-off and weed lines the first hour at Lac Tavery. A long productive spell runs morning through afternoon. Make the first hour count and build on it. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Tavery is one of the Lanaudière listings for Quebec. The bank is 453 metres above sea level. It measures about 21 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. A shoreline of some 4.0 km keeps the choices simple. The closest town, Saint-Michel-des-Saints, is 33 km away. Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm is 44 km away, with Rivière-Rouge at 51 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Survey and observation records for Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Anyone new to Lac Tavery should walk it once before setting up.
Climate records put July near 17°C and January near -15°C. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. At Lac Tavery the season follows that pattern closely.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Should this one be busy, Lac Siret is 1.5 km off. The position on Lac Tavery is worth confirming on the day.
