A closed sky with even light today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the N with a settled glass. Activity on Lac Tasiapik should centre on points where shallow meets deep. Expect the better fishing from morning through afternoon. Give the likely spots time before moving. The cold puts a premium on the calmest, deepest water.

Lac Tasiapik is one of the Nord-du-Québec listings for Quebec. Height above sea level is 36 metres. It measures about 26 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. There is roughly 2.7 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. Our Nord-du-Québec list holds plenty of bigger water. For a base, Kuujjuaq sits 28 km out. Nain is 452 km and Puvirnituq 535 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Records held for Nord-du-Québec cover Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout, lake whitefish and cisco. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. On Lac Tasiapik the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Between January at about -24°C and July at about 12°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Once it clears, about early June, the fishing comes on quickly. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early June and starts locking again about late October. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Expect Lac Tasiapik to follow that timing.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. The nearest alternative is Lac Tasirlaq, 5.7 km out. Rules at Lac Tasiapik are worth checking on the day.
