No cloud to trap the day's warmth tonight, with light air out of the SW and pressure going nowhere. Fish at Lac Tana should hold close to the first drop-off and weed lines. The forecast is against you; the morning is the least bad option. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Tana is one of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue waters in Quebec. Land around it is boreal forest. At roughly 2 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. On size it sits at the modest end of our Abitibi-Témiscamingue list. The nearest place of any size is Senneterre, 61 km away. Further out sit Val-d'Or (76 km) and Barraute (83 km). No border sits close enough to matter.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Public occurrence data for Abitibi-Témiscamingue names northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Lac Tana repays a walk before the first cast.
Long-run averages give July about 16°C and January about -18°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Climate figures give an open season running early May to mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Lac Tana fishes to that pattern most years.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac Kergos at 0.7 km is the sensible second choice. Confirm before you fish Lac Tana.
