A grey, even sky over the water, with mild air moving in from the W with the barometer flat. Whatever swims in Lac Suzanne should be near points where shallow meets deep. Numbers are low everywhere; the middle of the day is the pick of them. Take the small wins and call it early if it dies. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Côte-Nord in Quebec is where Lac Suzanne sits. Country round the bank runs to boreal forest. The water measures roughly 4 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. It is a small entry by Côte-Nord standards. Start from Forestville, 80 km down the road. After that come Betsiamites at 93 km and Chute-aux-Outardes at 104 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Records held for Côte-Nord cover logperch. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. The near bank of Lac Suzanne is often the one people ignore.
Average temperature peaks around 16°C in July and bottoms out near -18°C in January. This far north the hard season runs and runs. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Lac Suzanne runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Tom at 0.7 km is the sensible second choice. None of that is settled for Lac Suzanne in what we hold.
