An even grey lid over the water, with almost no wind to speak of with the glass holding level. The fish at Lac Sure are likely to sit near the calm side of the wind. If you pick one session, make it the night. Change depth before you change anything else. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

The Nord-du-Québec end of Quebec holds Lac Sure. The bank is 408 metres above sea level. Chibougamau is the closest town at 69 km. Then Chapais, 75 km, and Leblanc, 119 km. Also on the doorstep: Lac Cre some 1 km off, Lac Pougy near enough 1 km, Lac Falicon some 1.2 km off, Lac Sophie near enough 1.3 km and Lac de la Perruque some 1.9 km off. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Public occurrence data for Nord-du-Québec names Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout and lake whitefish. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Lac Sure fishes better once you know its edges.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -19°C. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early May. Break-up sits around early May on average, with the water closing again about mid November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Expect Lac Sure to follow that timing.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Cre at 1 km is the sensible second choice. The position on Lac Sure is worth confirming on the day.
