A crisp, open sky after dark, with a whisper of wind from the S with the glass holding level. The productive water at Lac Sulte will be around the shallows early and the drop later. The day fishes best from the day. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Quebec holds Lac Sulte, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. The bank gives way to spruce and muskeg. This is a pocket water of some 8 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. The nearest town is Amos, 13 km away. Further out sit Barraute (27 km) and Malartic (40 km). Near neighbours: Lac de la Passe (7.6 km), Lac Figuery some 7.9 km off, Lac La Motte (10 km), Lac Chaptes some 12 km off and Lac des Hauteurs (15 km). No border sits close enough to matter.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Abitibi-Témiscamingue records list northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker among the fish reported. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Take Lac Sulte a stretch at a time.
Average temperature peaks around 17°C in July and bottoms out near -17°C in January. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Anyone fishing Lac Sulte regularly works to that calendar.
Public data does not answer the access question here. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. The nearest alternative is Lac de la Passe, 7.6 km out. For Lac Sulte in particular, ask before you travel.
