Clear air and long views across the water tonight, with barely a breath of wind with the glass holding level. Whatever swims in Lac Stroud should be near the calm side of the wind. If you must go, go in the morning. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Night
Lac Stroud is an Abitibi-Témiscamingue water, in Quebec. It sits at 456 metres above sea level. Roughly 13 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The whole outline is near 1.9 km, and most of it is walkable. For supplies, Senneterre is 106 km out. Further out sit Val-d'Or (131 km) and Barraute (133 km). The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Treat Lac Stroud as a water to read rather than to cover.
Seasonal averages run from -18°C in January up to 17°C in July. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Lac Stroud fishes to that pattern most years.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. If the gate is shut, Lac Penhale at 2.2 km is the nearest alternative. Rules at Lac Stroud are worth checking on the day.
