Cloud in patches with bright spells between, with mild air moving in from the NW and pressure going nowhere. Start the search at Lac Stoke along the margins and the shelf beyond them. A steady middling day from end to end. Change depth before you change anything else. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Stoke lies in Estrie, in Quebec. Beyond the shoreline you have pine and birch. With some 37 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. About 2.6 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Quebec listings. The closest town, East Angus, is 12 km away. After that come Sherbrooke at 15 km and Windsor at 16 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Records held for Estrie cover rainbow trout, white sucker, pumpkinseed and brook trout. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Lac Stoke gives up more to patience than to distance.
The year swings from about -11°C in January to roughly 19°C in July. Hard water is a season in its own right here. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from mid April. Averages suggest open water from about mid April through to roughly early December. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Lac Stoke runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
We hold no note on access for this one. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Association Protection Lac Stoke gives a made launch, 660 m off. Expect a 760 m walk in from where the car goes. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac a Victor sits 1.3 km off and takes the overflow. Rules at Lac Stoke are worth checking on the day.
