Soft grey light all day today, with just enough NNW wind to ripple the surface and pressure going nowhere. Activity on Lac Star should centre on sheltered bays and points. A tough forecast; the morning offers the only real chance. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Cold air keeps the water sluggish; scale everything down.

You will find Lac Star in Côte-Nord, Quebec. Height above sea level is 547 metres. Surface area is around 10 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The edge runs 1.9 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. Labrador City is the closest place, 211 km off. Wabush follows at 216 km, then Fermont at 228 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Records held for Côte-Nord cover logperch. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Lac Star fishes better once you know its edges.
Between January at about -24°C and July at about 12°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Winter locks it down, and early June brings it back. Averages suggest open water from about early June through to roughly late October. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. On Lac Star that shapes the whole year.
We hold no note on access for this one. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac Ridge, 2.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Lac Star in what we hold.
