A closed sky with even light today, with a light chop building from the SSW and the barometer holding steady. The water to cover at Lac Stanley is any hard bottom among the soft. The forecast is against you; the middle of the day is the least bad option. Short, focused sessions beat a long grind today.

Lac Stanley sits within Côte-Nord in Quebec. The ground around here is northern bush. At about 44 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. A shoreline of some 4.9 km keeps the choices simple. The closest town, Forestville, is 39 km away. Betsiamites is 46 km and Chute-aux-Outardes 62 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Species logged across Côte-Nord include logperch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. On Lac Stanley the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 16°C, while January sits near -16°C. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. Look for the thaw near early May; the fishing lifts straight after. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. At Lac Stanley the season follows that pattern closely.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. The nearest alternative is Lac Sterling, 1.7 km out. None of that is settled for Lac Stanley in what we hold.
