Overcast skies today, with light air out of the S with the barometer flat. The water to cover at Lac Spring is shallow cover and weed edges. The useful hours run the day. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Quebec holds Lac Spring, in Laurentides. It sits at 229 metres above sea level. About 3 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Laurentides. L'Orignal is the closest place, 21 km off. After that come Hawkesbury at 25 km and Saint-André-Avellin at 27 km. Two sets of local rules meet not far from this water.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Records held for Laurentides cover pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. On Lac Spring the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Expect July to average close to 19°C, with January the cold end at about -13°C. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. The open-water window runs from around late April to about early December in an average year. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Lac Spring fishes to that pattern most years.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Should this one be busy, Lac Papineau is 1.5 km off. Signs at Lac Spring carry more weight than any list.
