Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a gentle ripple from the SSW with a settled glass. Give the weed line and any gaps in it the first hour at Lac Spider. A grinding day likely, with the evening worth the effort if any is. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Spider falls in Côte-Nord, part of Quebec. Height above sea level is 397 metres. It covers about 4 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Most waters listed here for Côte-Nord are larger. Nearest town is Baie-Comeau, 43 km off. The big place round here is Saguenay, 245 km distant. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Our records hold no depth for this water. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. County-wide records name logperch. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. At Lac Spider the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Typical July readings run about 16°C; by January the average is down near -17°C. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. On Lac Spider that shapes the whole year.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Muskrat, 1.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing on Lac Spider should be assumed from this page alone.
