Dull, settled light over the water, with light air out of the WNW and steady pressure. Fish at Lac Soulard should hold close to shallow cover and weed edges. If you pick one session, make it the evening. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Soulard lies within the bounds of Centre-du-Québec, Quebec. Mixed forest runs right down to the water. Roughly 13 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The edge runs 1.4 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Centre-du-Québec. Some 14 km away sits Daveluyville, the nearest settlement. Gentilly is 20 km away, with Princeville at 21 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Survey and observation records for Centre-du-Québec include brook trout, northern pike and lake chub. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. On Lac Soulard the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
On the long-term average, July reads 19°C and January reads -13°C. Hard water is a season in its own right here. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near early December: that is the shape of an average year. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Lac Soulard runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Look for a notice board at the entrance. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Failing this one, try Lac Louise, 3.3 km away. Treat Lac Soulard as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
