Quebec holds Lac Snip, in Mauricie. Elevation runs to 417 metres. At roughly 2 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. It is a small entry by Mauricie standards. Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Records held for Mauricie cover northern pike, brook trout and walleye. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. On Lac Snip the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Averages move between -17°C in January and 16°C in July. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Snip.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. The nearest alternative is Lac Bole, 0.4 km out. Treat access at Lac Snip as something to verify.
