Flat light and a covered sky today, with a whisper of wind from the S and the barometer holding steady. Most of the action on Lac Smith should come off the weed line and any gaps in it. Quiet conditions all day, with the evening marginally better. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Smith sits within Côte-Nord in Quebec. It lies 467 metres above sea level. This is sizeable water at about 1.12 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. At about 7.7 km of edge, most people work one arm at a time. The town to know is Hauterive, 82 km out. The nearest city of size is Saguenay, 248 km away. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Species logged across Côte-Nord include logperch. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Read Lac Smith for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
The seasonal spread runs -18°C to 16°C. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around mid May. Expect the water usable from around mid May until roughly mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. The season on Lac Smith follows the weather closely.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. For a change of water, Lac Carl is 8.8 km distant. None of that is settled for Lac Smith in what we hold.
