Solid cloud cover today, with light air out of the SSW and the barometer holding steady. Most of the action on Lac Singelais should come off any hard bottom among the soft. Little to get excited about, though the evening holds a sliver of promise. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

Lac Singelais is one of the Côte-Nord waters in Quebec. It lies 73 metres above sea level. The water covers some 11 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. About 1.8 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Quebec listings. Hauterive lies 4.7 km from the water. Baie-Comeau is 5.3 km away, with Chute-aux-Outardes at 18 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Côte-Nord records list logperch among the fish reported. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Take Lac Singelais a stretch at a time.
July runs about 17°C on average, January about -14°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Open water usually runs from early May until about late November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Plan around that when you fish Lac Singelais.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. The nearest alternative is Lac Long, 2.8 km out. For Lac Singelais, the notice at the access point is the final word.
