Moonlight in and out behind the cloud tonight, with a light chop building from the W and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Lac Sergent should come off bays that hold the day's warmth. A hard day on paper; the night edges the rest. Scale down and fish slowly. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac Sergent is one of the Mauricie waters in Quebec. The bank is 435 metres above sea level. This is sizeable water at about 1.30 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. The edge covers about 13 km, enough to hold several distinct areas. It is among the larger waters listed here for Mauricie. For supplies, Leblanc is 47 km out. Weymontachie is 85 km and Manawan 101 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Work Lac Sergent in sections rather than trying to cover it.
The seasonal spread runs -17°C to 16°C. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. That shapes the year on Lac Sergent.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Odine sits 1.7 km off and takes the overflow. What applies at Lac Sergent may have changed since it was mapped.
