An even grey lid over the water, with the surface near flat and the barometer holding steady. Activity on Lac Scott should centre on inflow corners and shaded margins. The forecast backs the stretch from night into morning. Settle in and let the day develop. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Scott sits within Capitale-Nationale in Quebec. The bank is 336 metres above sea level. It measures about 35 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The full circuit measures close to 3.3 km on foot. On our Capitale-Nationale list it sits near the top for size. La Tuque lies 25 km from the water. After that come Laurentides at 30 km and Sainte-Thècle at 62 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Capitale-Nationale records list lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker and sauger among the fish reported. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. On Lac Scott the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -16°C. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around late April. Average temperatures cross freezing around late April in spring and again near mid November in autumn. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Lac Scott fishes to that pattern most years.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. Walleye come to jigs worked slow near bottom, and to trolled crankbaits along the drops at dusk. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac du Tournant at 0.5 km is the sensible second choice. What applies at Lac Scott may have changed since it was mapped.
