Solid cloud cover today, with a whisper of wind from the SSW with the barometer flat. Most of the action on Lac Scot should come off the calm side of the wind. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

In Quebec, Lac Scot falls inside Mauricie. Elevation runs to 370 metres. The far bank is a conversation away, so keep low and quiet. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Mauricie. Weymontachie at 39 km is the nearest place to stop. After that come Manawan at 52 km and Leblanc at 85 km. Within a short drive: Lac de Rome 1.2 km off, Lac Pepin 3 km, Lac Joncas 4.2 km off, Lac Hardy 4.5 km and Lac Birham 4.6 km off. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Survey and observation records for Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout and walleye. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Lac Scot fishes better once you know its edges.
Expect July near 17°C and January near -16°C on the long-run figures. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. That is the shape of the year on Lac Scot.
No access rule appears in what we hold. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. The nearest alternative is Lac de Rome, 1.2 km out. What applies at Lac Scot may have changed since it was mapped.
