No direct sun expected today, with light air out of the SW with a settled glass. Whatever swims in Lac Scabieuse should be near inflow corners and shaded margins. Little to get excited about, though the morning holds a sliver of promise. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

The Abitibi-Témiscamingue end of Quebec holds Lac Scabieuse. The ground around here is spruce and muskeg. Val-d'Or sits 66 km from here and is the nearest stop. The big place round here is Gatineau, 275 km distant. Near neighbours: Lac de la Barque just 1.5 km, Lac Nodule a touch under 1.8 km, Lac Actinie just 1.8 km, Lac Sayon a touch under 1.9 km and Lac Partinium just 2.2 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Survey and observation records for Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Take Lac Scabieuse a stretch at a time.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -17°C. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Lac Scabieuse runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac de la Barque sits 1.5 km off and takes the overflow. Rules at Lac Scabieuse are worth checking on the day.
