Dull, settled light over the water, with a light chop building from the S with a settled glass. Give inflow corners and shaded margins the first hour at Lac Sauvage. The strongest window is the morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Sauvage is a Laurentides water, in Quebec. The ground around here is pine and birch. It covers about 2 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. On size it sits at the modest end of our Laurentides list. Some 2.2 km away sits Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson, the nearest settlement. For a city, Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne is 43 km off. This one sits near enough to a boundary to be worth checking.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Across Laurentides, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Read Lac Sauvage for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Average temperature peaks around 18°C in July and bottoms out near -14°C in January. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Climate figures give an open season running late April to late November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. At Lac Sauvage the season follows that pattern closely.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. The nearest alternative is Lac de la Roche, 0.6 km out. Where Lac Sauvage is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
