Steady rain over the water today, with a kind SSE breeze on the water with the glass holding level. Start the search at Lac Saint-Laurent along points where shallow meets deep. If you pick one session, make it the morning. Let the water tell you when to move. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Saint-Laurent lies in Mauricie, Quebec. The land about it is rolling bush. With some 26 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The bank runs about 3.6 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Sainte-Thècle lies 17 km from the water. Laurentides follows at 22 km, then Saint-Ubalde at 24 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Species logged across Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Read Lac Saint-Laurent before you fish it and the day goes better.
The warmest month averages 18°C, the coldest about -15°C. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near late April. In an average year the thaw lands around late April and the freeze near late November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Lac Saint-Laurent runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. For a change of water, Lac Godin is 1.5 km distant. None of that is settled for Lac Saint-Laurent in what we hold.
