Wet weather working through today, with a faint S drift and pressure going nowhere. Activity on Lac Roy should centre on shallow cover and weed edges. Little to get excited about, though the morning holds a sliver of promise. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Roy is set in Côte-Nord, Quebec. It sits at 551 metres above sea level. At about 12 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. There is roughly 1.6 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. It sits higher than most water we list in Quebec. Saint-Honoré lies 99 km from the water. Further out sit Saint-Fulgence (100 km) and Forestville (106 km). It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. County-wide records name logperch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Lac Roy gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Long-term averages put July at about 15°C and January near -19°C. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Ice is part of the season here, ending near mid May. Average temperatures cross freezing around mid May in spring and again near early November in autumn. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Anyone fishing Lac Roy regularly works to that calendar.
Access is not recorded for this water. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Failing this one, try Lac de l'Aloyau, 0.9 km away. For Lac Roy, the notice at the access point is the final word.
