Heavy overcast holding through the day, with stillness over the whole water and pressure sitting still. Fish at Lac Roy should hold close to reed fringes and open pockets. The morning carries the best of the day. A careful, quiet approach will out-fish a busy one. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Look for Lac Roy in the Lanaudière part of Quebec. Lake country bush runs right down to the water. It measures about 14 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Around 1.9 km of margin, front to back. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. Nearest place of any size is Saint-Michel-des-Saints, 20 km away. It is 93 km to Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne, the nearest city. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Survey and observation records for Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. On Lac Roy the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Between January at about -15°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Look for the thaw near early May; the fishing lifts straight after. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at late November. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Lac Roy runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac du Jeudi, 0.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat access at Lac Roy as something to verify.
