A grey, even sky over the water, with the water lying quiet and no real change in pressure. Fish at Lac Rose should hold close to structure within a cast of the bank. The productive run goes the day. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Rose is listed under Centre-du-QuƩbec, Quebec. The bank is 82 metres above sea level. With some 38 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. With about 2.7 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. Most waters listed here for Centre-du-QuƩbec are larger. Head to Gentilly, 11 km away, for anything you forgot. After that come Daveluyville at 17 km and BƩcancour at 21 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. County-wide records name brook trout, northern pike and lake chub. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Anyone new to Lac Rose should walk it once before setting up.
The year swings from about -13°C in January to roughly 19°C in July. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near early December: that is the shape of an average year. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. It holds true on Lac Rose more years than not.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Soulard, 9.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Rules at Lac Rose are worth checking on the day.
