Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with mild air moving in from the SSW with the barometer flat. Expect most activity at Lac Rose around structure within a cast of the bank. A tough forecast; the night offers the only real chance. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

Lac Rose sits in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, out in Quebec. It sits at 434 metres above sea level. At about 28 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Shoreline length is close to 5.1 km, and each section fishes a little differently. Head to Senneterre, 88 km away, for anything you forgot. Further out sit Barraute (116 km) and Val-d'Or (119 km). One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Survey and observation records for Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Work Lac Rose in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Expect July near 16°C and January near -18°C on the long-run figures. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Plan around that when you fish Lac Rose.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. The nearest alternative is Lac Vendin, 1.7 km out. None of that is settled for Lac Rose in what we hold.
