Rain moving through today, with a steady SSW wind and pressure sitting still. The fish at Lac Roe are likely to sit near the seam between weed and open water. Everything points to the night. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

In Quebec, Lac Roe falls inside Lanaudière. The bank gives way to rolling bush. With some 31 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The shoreline runs about 6.0 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. Size puts it in the front rank of our Lanaudière list. The nearest place of any size is Saint-Michel-des-Saints, 39 km away. Manawan follows at 49 km, then Mandeville at 81 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Lanaudière records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass among the fish reported. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. On Lac Roe that means starting tight and working out.
Between January at about -15°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly late November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Plan around that when you fish Lac Roe.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Larose sits 1 km off and takes the overflow. Check the position on Lac Roe before loading the car.
