No direct sun expected today, with a persistent wind from the SSW with the glass holding level. Fish at Lac Rocky should hold close to the weed line and any gaps in it. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Rocky sits within Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean in Quebec. Land around it is northern bush. With some 12 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. A shoreline of some 2.2 km keeps the choices simple. For supplies, Saint-Félicien is 42 km out. Further out sit Saint-Prime (44 km) and Roberval (46 km). It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Fish Lac Rocky where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
The warm month here averages 16°C; the cold one sits at -18°C. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Rocky.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. The nearest alternative is Lac Faux, 1.2 km out. None of that is settled for Lac Rocky in what we hold.
