No direct sun expected today, with a soft SW wind and pressure sitting still. Expect most activity at Lac Rocau around structure within a cast of the bank. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the morning. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Rocau is one of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue waters in Quebec. Spruce and muskeg runs right down to the water. Surface area is around 25 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The full circuit measures close to 3.3 km on foot. Senneterre at 68 km is the nearest place to stop. Val-d'Or lies 80 km off, Barraute another 89 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Our records hold no depth for this water. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Reported across Abitibi-Témiscamingue: northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. The shape of Lac Rocau decides where the fish sit.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -18°C. This far north the hard season runs and runs. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. That is the shape of the year on Lac Rocau.
We hold no note on access for this one. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Overnight stays are possible about 720 m out, where camping is mapped. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Pesho at 2.3 km is the sensible second choice. What applies at Lac Rocau may have changed since it was mapped.
