Overcast skies today, with a gentle ripple from the SSW and pressure sitting still. On Lac Rhodes, work points where shallow meets deep first. A tough forecast; the morning offers the only real chance. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

In Quebec, Lac Rhodes falls inside Outaouais. It lies 380 metres above sea level. With some 12 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Shoreline comes to about 3.1 km, small enough to learn in a day. The closest town, Saint-Boniface, is 60 km away. After that come Maniwaki at 70 km and Saint-Raphaël at 80 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
We hold no depth figure for this one. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Records held for Outaouais cover pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. The county list is broader than any single water. At Lac Rhodes the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -17°C in January. Hard water is a season in its own right here. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly late November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Lac Rhodes fishes to that pattern most years.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. For a change of water, Lac Magny is 1.3 km distant. Ask locally about Lac Rhodes if anything is unclear.
