A grey, even sky over the water, with a mirror surface most of the day and steady pressure. On Lac Renois, work structure within a cast of the bank first. A stay-home graph, with the morning as the one excuse to go. Quiet tactics only; the fish will not chase today. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Renois lies within the bounds of Côte-Nord, Quebec. It sits at 478 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 6 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Our Côte-Nord list holds plenty of bigger water. For supplies, Port-Cartier is 63 km out. Further out sit Saint-Alexandre (64 km) and Sept-Îles (84 km). It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Survey and observation records for Côte-Nord include logperch. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Read Lac Renois before you fish it and the day goes better.
The warm month here averages 14°C; the cold one sits at -19°C. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from mid May. Ice usually gives way near mid May, and forms again about early November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. The season on Lac Renois rarely departs from it.
Access is not recorded for this water. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lac en Pointe, 2.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Signs at Lac Renois carry more weight than any list.
