Flat light and a covered sky today, with stillness over the whole water with the barometer flat. Activity on Lac Reno should centre on the first drop-off and weed lines. Save your energy for the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Survey and observation records for Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Lac Reno responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Typical July readings run about 17°C; by January the average is down near -17°C. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Reno.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. For a change of water, Petit lac Reno is 1.4 km distant. Check the position at Lac Reno before loading the car.
