Showers crossing the water today, with hardly a ripple anywhere and pressure going nowhere. The productive water at Lac Reine will be around the shallows early and the drop later. A hard day on paper; the night edges the rest. Scale down and fish slowly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Set in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Lac Reine is a Quebec water. Elevation runs to 368 metres. This is a pocket water of some 4 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. On size it sits at the modest end of our Abitibi-Témiscamingue list. Nearest town is Val-d'Or, 89 km off. Malartic lies 101 km off, Senneterre another 123 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Read Lac Reine for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Between January at about -16°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Ice clears near early May and comes back about late November in a typical year. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Reine.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Lac Arbas sits 0.5 km off and takes the overflow. Confirm before you fish Lac Reine.
