Uneven cloud over the water after dark, with calm air over the water and steady pressure. Activity on Lac Quend should centre on windblown banks where food collects. A grinding day likely, with the night worth the effort if any is. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Quebec holds Lac Quend, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. The water sits 342 metres up. The water covers some 12 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Bank access stretches around 1.8 km in total. Supplies mean a trip to Val-d'Or, 85 km off. Malartic lies 93 km off, Saint-Isidore another 116 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. At Lac Quend the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
The year swings from about -16°C in January to roughly 17°C in July. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. On average, early May opens the water and late November closes it again. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Quend.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. A campsite lies 1.2 km away for anyone staying over. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Barbieres sits 1.1 km off and takes the overflow. Check the position on Lac Quend before loading the car.
