Rain on and off through the day, with a soft S wind with the glass holding level. Start the search at Lac Poilu along the calm side of the wind. Save your energy for the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

This water sits in Mauricie, Quebec. What surrounds it is spruce and muskeg. At 8 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Weymontachie lies 33 km from the water. After that come La Tuque at 60 km and Leblanc at 90 km. Other water nearby: Lac Palette within 0.7 km, Lac Sawyer after 5.6 km, Lac du Piton within 5.7 km, Lac du Serpent after 6.5 km and Lac Emile within 6.5 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Reported across Mauricie: northern pike, brook trout and walleye. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. At Lac Poilu light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Climate records put July near 17°C and January near -16°C. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. Ice is part of the season here, ending near late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Expect Lac Poilu to follow that timing.
Access status is simply unknown for this water. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. If the gate is shut, Lac Palette at 0.7 km is the nearest alternative. None of that is settled for Lac Poilu in what we hold.
