Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with hardly a ripple anywhere with the glass holding level. Give bays that hold the day's warmth the first hour at Lac Pline. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Pline lies in Outaouais, in Quebec. Elevation runs to 404 metres. Around 10 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. A shoreline of some 1.7 km keeps the choices simple. Start from Saint-Boniface, 63 km down the road. For a city, Gatineau is 166 km off. Within a short drive: Lac Titus at 1.1 km, Lac Verd 1.6 km, Lac Ural at 1.6 km, Lac de Renzy 1.7 km and Lac Flora at 1.8 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. The shape of Lac Pline decides where the fish sit.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -16°C. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough late April. Ice usually gives way near late April, and forms again about late November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Pline.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. The nearest alternative is Lac Titus, 1.1 km out. Treat access at Lac Pline as something to verify.
